Introduction

Welcome to Salvage, my epic-length Pokémon fanfic of more than ten years. This is a pokémorph fanfic inspired by something I'd wondered ever since encountering the lost scientist's lab notes in the Cinnabar mansion: what happened to Mew? Mewtwo could be found lurking in the Unknown Dungeon, but Mew herself seemed completely absent from Red, Blue, and Yellow, found only with some form of outside aid (or truly incredible luck). Throw that idea in a blender with my longstanding fascination with pokémorphs and Mew's transformation abilities, a personal interest in writing a character who would tick every Mary Sue box without actually being one, and an unfortunate infatuation with second person POV, and somehow you end up with this fanfic, which will likely end up about as long as The Lord of the Rings. The focus here is action and suspense, friendship, humor, and not a small amount of tragedy.

Although this fic leans pretty hard on comedy at times, it's a dark story, and one most appropriate for mature audiences. Major content warnings include violence, blood, discussions of suicide and suicidal ideation, body horror, physical and psychological torture, character death, and a truly astonishing amount of fucking cursing.

This story is a work in progress, and updates are sporadic, albeit dependable--I've been grinding away at this fic for over a decade and have no intention of stopping. At this point I'm expecting the story to run to about 75 chapters in total.

The primary mirror for this story is on FFN. There are also versions on both Archive of Our Own and Thousand Roads; however, those mirrors are a rewrite that's currently stalled in the early phases and unlikely to be picked up again anytime soon. The version found here is the "definitive" one including the most recent revision of every chapter, and it will remain up to date with the FFN version. In addition to the extra content included at the bottom of the chapter index, this story also has a spinoff/prequel called "Little God" that can currently be found on either FFN or Thousand Roads.

I hope you enjoy this story that's been an important part of my life for so many years. I welcome any and all feedback; you can drop a comment on any one of this story's mirrors, if you like, or send me an e-mail; my gmail address is negrek.
